The Association of National Tourist Office Representatives in Japan (ANTOR-JAPAN) – previously known as F.G.T.O. – is a voluntary, non-profitable, and non-political association of the representatives of foreign national tourist organizations. It was established in 1966. The Association exists for or the exchange of views on matters of mutual concern and interest within the major foreign promotional sector of the travel industry can express its views. It also assists in improving operational techniques and standards of travel destination marketing by providing a non-commercial (and collective) viewpoint. Recently, provision was made for allied members so as to encourage a more direct liaison and exchange with commercial organizations in travel industry. Through its direct activities-such as symposiums, guest speakers at meetings, and participation in many travel industry events. ANTOR-JAPAN can be regarded as a substantial contributor to the expansion and internationalization of the Japanese travel industry.

Created in 1966, ANTOR-JAPAN is the association of foreign tourist representatives. ANTOR-JAPAN aims at strengthening the growth of outbound tourism from Japan to the world through cooperation with the travel trade. 
Tourism is obviously a major industry, but it’s also a special industry. We think that developing international tourism leads to a better understanding and appreciation of various nations and cultures and thus plays a vital part in making the world a better, safer, friendlier place for all. 
For two years now the world has been facing the COVID-19 pandemic and one of the consequences is that outbound tourism from Japan is pretty much completely stopped. The current situation is certainly the most serious the travel industry has ever faced through its history.
Still, there is no reason to think that the Japanese people will to travel abroad has disappeared. It is of course difficult to say when market recovery will begin but we know that a strong recovery will happen when Japanese people can travel easily again. There are many uncertainties in front of us and it is then all the more important that we work together to prepare this recovery in the best possible way. 
All ANTOR-JAPAN members remain motivated and active. We all look forward to get the Japanese outbound market moving again with our friends from the travel trade. 
Let us make 2022 the year when the Japanese travel abroad again!
